HGH stands for human growth hormone. HGH therapy replaces the deficiency of this hormone in our bodies. It was originally developed for children. Those with deficiencies of the hormone, inhibiting their growth. Now it is able to be used with adults. When an adult has a consistent deficiency of it there may be premature aging.

It is a naturally occurring hormone in the body produced in the pituitary gland. Specifically in the anterior pituitary. This is attached to the hypothalamus which produces a growth hormone releasing hormone. This hormone then stimulates the pituitary gland to synthesize and release growth hormone. It’s protein based with 191 amino acids.

The general health and vitality of youth is attributed to the hormone. In youth our levels of it can be 500 micrograms. In contrast, by the age of 60 it may go down to 60 micrograms. Sometime in the late 30’s our natural levels start to decline. We start to notice fine lines, less skin elasticity and less muscle mass. we have to workout more to maintain current muscle.

The hormone promotes growth and repair. It is most active during puberty. As you get older it is activated during deep sleep. Another reason why adequate sleep is so important. HGH is responsible for brain function, metabolism, mental health, healing, bone and muscle strength. Some of the possible symptoms of a deficiency may be depression and anxiety, trouble sleeping, decrease in sexual desire, and fatigue.

There have been numerous studies done on the effects of HGH therapy. It is possible to reverse or halt the symptoms. This of course depends on other factors such as progression and any complications. Hair becomes dull with age but can now have improved texture. Cholesterol levels are improved, so is kidney function, healing and immunity. Fat stores decrease, skin thickens and becomes more elastic, mood swings improve and sexual desire increases.

The therapy is hormone replacement therapy. It is recombinant HGH, a synthetic version of the growth hormone that is prescribed by a doctor. It is administered through shots usually given daily. It should be given by a physician, because in order for it to be effective it must be properly dosed for each individual and the symptoms they present. A full medical exam should be given to determine if HGH therapy is right for you. This is necessary since some medical conditions can not tolerate it.

In multiple studies there have been many benefits found as the result of HGH therapy. Mentally and physically, what was thought of as just getting older or as normal is not necessarily so. Appearance can be improved right along with the immune system and blood pressure and digestion. Quality of life is improved overall.
