Homemade dry skin recipes are all the rage now a day as people are going green and fatigued of using toxic chemicals on our skin. Many inexpensive, drug-store type moisturizers are loaded with additives, preservatives, and mineral oil which can upset the delicate pH balance of your skin. Normally, healthy skin should have a pH between 4.2 and 6.5. Anything higher or lower than this can upset your skin barrier which protects the skin from environmental elements like bacteria, wind, dehydration, etc. And skin diseases like acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea.

The basic purpose of a moisturizer is to trap water on the skin hydrate it. In addition to keeping the skin supple the ideal moisturizer should also prevent dry skin conditions from progressing to something worse like eczema or an infected dry itchy skin rash. If you've dry skin or skin problems, it’s important to start taking care of your skin right away.

So what are some of the ideal homemade dry skin recipes? There are a ton of them, but my favorite is an egg yolk and honey mask. This mask feels great and my skin is so moist and soft after each treatment. Here are the simple instructions:

- whisk 2 egg yolks then add 1 tablespoon of honey and mix well.
- massage the mixture all over the face and neck and leave on for 25 minutes.
- this might drip, so you may want to lie and just rest for a while until it starts to dry.
- then rinse well and apply a good facial moisturizer for dry skin.

Other great homemade dry skin recipes include applying olive oil all over your face and neck right after washing it or taking a shower. It’s best to do this at night because it’s a Tiny messy.

So what about the daytime? Obviously, you can’t walk around with egg yolk and honey or olive oil on you face during the day. For very dry skin I advocate a moisturizer that provides continuous hydration. I use one that’s water-proof and rub-proof. My favorite moisturizer has a potent delivery system so it penetrates the skin deeply for optimum results. It uses a lyphazome technology which is excellent for hydrating dry parched skin.

What are Lyphazome? they are natural nanospheres which are only 1/50th the size of human skin cells, so they can penetrate the epidermis deeply, delivering ingredients deep into the skin layers, where it is most effective. Also, nanospheres are highly concentrated so they can deliver at least 80% of the bioactive- and moisture-loaded ingredient into the skin.
